S.T.E.P is the Shuswap Training and Employment Program and was formed in 1997, mandated to serve the Aboriginal community in the field of Human Resource Development in the southern interior. Our service region boundaries are: north to Clearwater, South to Enderby, East to Revelstoke and West to Clinton. Our geographical area encompasses 10 First Nation communities and the surrounding urban and rural communities. Our services are available to status, non-status, on and off reserve individuals residing in the area.

Mission: Our mission is to assist Aboriginal people to achieve self-reliance and economic independence through the provision of a balanced mix of programs and services, giving maximum support for training and employment activities. Funding priorities are the long term unemployed, youth, women, persons with disabilities and workers threatened with unemployment.
