Job Title:  CULTURAL RESOURCE FIELD WORKER (3)

 

The Cultural Resource Field Worker position is responsible for conducting field work related to archaeology and cultural heritage. Typically this includes conducting Preliminary Field Reviews of proposed cutting permits, assisting to complete Archaeological Impact Assessments (AIA), and monitoring construction projects, in addition to other tasks required by the Natural Resource Department. Successful applicants may also have the opportunity to participate in other forestry related activities such as grass seeding and commercial thinning*

 

 Job Qualifications & Responsibilities:

§  RISC Training in Archaeology;

§  Must have a valid BC Driver’s Licence;

§  Must be physically fit and able to do strenuous work in all weather;

§  Must be able to arrive at marshalling point (Band Office) as scheduled by the Supervisor with all required work equipment;

§  Must be willing to learn or improve computer skills related to mapping, reporting, etc.,

§  Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Access & MS Excel, is an Asset;

§  Cultural Heritage Assessment training or experience is an asset;

§  Forestry training and/or experience is an asset,

§  *Chainsaw safety certification is an asset,

  • Previous work experience with the BIB Natural Resources department is an asset

§  Must be flexible and able to participate other natural resource work as needed.

 

** Preference will be given to First Nations Persons**

 

Length of Employment & Wage Range:

Ø  Length of employment will be determined seasonally.

Ø  Wage Range: $16 – $20/ per hour based on experience
